The Power of Three is hitting TV screens again in a Charmed reboot. The original Charmed series centers around three sisters (Prue, Piper, and Phoebe) battling demons and the forces of darkness. At the end of season 3, main character Prue (Shannen Doherty, 90210) died being replaced with their long lost sister Paige (Rose McGowen, Planet Terror). The show had a run from 1998 to 2006.
Now the CW plans to reboot the popular series. Jessica O’Toole and Amy Rardin (Jane the Virgin) will create the storyline and will be writing the pilot episode. The pilot will be directed by Brad Silberling (2009 Land of the Lost). The new show will be set in 1976 in a small New England town. At this previous time, we don’t know any more about the storyline, however, three characters have been announced. Tina, Paige, and Annie will be the new witches of this previous time, we don’t know any more about the storyline, however, the names of the three characters have been announced. Tina, Paige, and Annie will be the new witches of Charmed. No word on casting for the three main characters.
There is no word if the original cast will have involvement in the new show, but they tweeted about how they felt about the reboot. Holly Marie Combs (Piper) tweeted “We wish them well.” Alyssa Milano (Phoebe) reacted on Twitter, “#Charmed fans! There are no fans like you. You’re the best of the best.” Rose McGowen (Paige) in regards to a reboot, “They are really are running out of ideas in Hollywood.” It seems like there are some mixed feelings about the show.
When I was in high school, I watched Charmed so much that bought the books based on the series. Although it sounds like a prequel it seems like an interesting concept. The three witches are not sisters in the Charmed reboot so it will be interesting to see how the writers work that in the show. To me, it makes more sense to have a sequel to Charmed following the future Halliwell children. But beggars can’t be choosers. I will follow up with more news on casting and information on the plot. Will you watch the new Power of Three?
