The Cinepocalypse is coming! No, I’m not talking about a From Justin To Kelly sequel. I’m talking about a new genre film festival that’s coming to Chicago later this year! Entertainment Weekly broke the news: the inaugural genre event is coming to the Music Box Theatre this November!
Cinepocalypse is a joint effort from Music Box General Manager Ryan Oestreich and Josh Goldbloom. According to the Music Box Theatre website, Cinepocalypse is the new name for Bruce Campbell’s Horror Film Festival.
Since 2014, Bruce Campbell’s Horror Film Festival, the mid-west’s largest cinematic horror gathering, has terrorized audiences with an annual slate of premiere films, guests, and bloodcurdling entertainment. In just three short years, the festival played host to the likes of: John Carpenter, Fede Alvarez, Eli Roth, Christopher Lloyd, Fred Dekker, Tom Holland, Barbara Crampton, William Sadler, Stephen Lang, comedian Doug Benson, and many more talented filmmakers from around the globe.
Leaving a trail of apocalyptic annihilation in the village of Rosemont, the festival is moving to Chicago’s historic Music Box Theatre.
Goldblum was the Artistic Director of the Bruce Campbell Fest according to EW, so it sounds like a great fit. Can I get a fist bump? Hell yeah!
Cinepocalypse premieres on November 2, 2017 and runs through November 9. The show promises “bloody international terror, world and regional premieres, repertory cinema, special guests, parties, and more.” This could be big, guys. The last Bruce Campbell Horror Fest featured the world premiere of Found Footage 3-D and a Monster Squad reunion screening! Sounds like anything could happen here!
Tickets are on sale now. Sounds like they’ll set you back $100 – $200, depending on the package. Head on over to the Music Box Theater website to snag them. Early bird pricing runs through August 1!
Sounds like fun! See you there?
