Chances are if you are a fan of horror films, you probably are a fan of the Child’s Play series. The Child’s Play series has spanned 28 years and 6 features films, starting as a relatively serious slasher film series before diverging into a dark comedy until Curse of Chucky took it back to its roots. It was announced earlier today that the series latest installment, Cult of Chucky, is set to start filming January 9th for a Halloween release for Unrated DVD and Blu-Ray.
Cult of Chucky is set to bring back several actors from the franchise, including Brad Dourif, Jennifer Tilly, Fiona Dourif and Alex Vincent. The plot of the film is set to follow Nica Pierce (Fiona Dourif) who was institutionalized following the events of Curse of Chucky. Her therapist brings in a Good Guy doll to assist with therapy and naturally, killing ensues. If Nica wants to escape with her life she is going to have to team up with Chucky’s original owner Andy Barclay (Alex Vincent) to take out Chucky and Tiffany (Jennifer Tilly). Cult of Chucky will be directed by series writer Don Mancini, who has directed the last 2 entries.
So what do you think of a new Chucky installment? Do you hope the tone of the film will return to it’s original roots or are you hoping for a more comedic approach? Comment and let us know.
