Full Trailer for Darren Aranofsky’s ‘Mother!’ Released

The full trailer for Darren Aronofsky’s Mother! has been released. There are not a lot of trailers that I see that scream “WTF!” but this trailer sure did. This psychological horror thriller is something that needs to be seen to be believed. So without further ado, I present the full trailer below.

The man who brought us Requiem for a Dream and Black Swan is bringing Mother! to life. Aronofsky is directing and also wrote the film. The cast includes Academy Award winners Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Ed Harris and Michelle Pfeiffer.

Official Synopsis

A couple’s relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence.

This film takes “Stranger Danger” to a new level. Jennifer Lawrence and Javier Bardem play a couple that seems to be perfectly happy… that is, until two uninvited guests arrive at their house at an untimely hour. Bardem’s character lets them in without question, but Lawrence’s character knows that this is not a normal response. She knows that it is pretty weird to just let strangers roam your home, and when she finds a picture of her husband in one of their suitcases, the shit hits the fan. It screams Rosemary’s Baby (1968) with a dash of What Lies Beneath (2000) and Don’t Say a Word (2001).

I noticed that Jennifer Lawrence’s character is portrayed as this perfect, flawless beauty in the trailer, like a doll. Combine that with the above poster, where it seems as if her skin is cracking like porcelain, and it makes me wonder even more. What could this have to do with the story? Also, whose mother does the film’s title reference?

Mother! has already been nominated for Best Film at the 2017 Venice Film Festival, although it is not set to be released in theaters until September 15th. The rest of us have about a month left before we get see the film. What do you think? Let us know in the comments below!
