It has been rumored for a couple of years that a long awaited sequel to Bryan Bertino’s The Strangers was on its way. Unfortunately, Relativity Media had been struggling with financial issues and had halted any and all steps going forward with The Strangers 2… until now.
On May 11, Bloody Disgusting exclusively reported that The Strangers 2 will begin filming in L.A. on May 30.
The first casting news is exciting as Emmy nominated Christina Hendricks has joined the cast. While she’s best known as Joan on Mad Men, she’s also starred in Refn’s Drive and The Neon Demon. Bloody Disgusting learned that the cast also consists of Bailee Madison, who starred in the Guillermo del Toro-produced Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark, and Lewis Pullman (Aftermath). The film wil be directed by Johannes Roberts (The Other Side of the Door 2016)
The Strangers 2 follows a family whose road trip takes a turn when they arrive at a secluded mobile home park and, after the power goes out, they decide to hunker down for the night in a borrowed trailer. Under the cover of darkness, three familiar masked psychopaths pay them a visit to test their every limit.
The first film left audiences stunned and terrified. Will The Strangers 2 live up to what is already becoming a cult classic? We shall see. PopHorror will keep you updated once we hear more about this exciting news!
