Yes, that’s right – Michael Myers is back with a new story! Although BlumHouse Productions announced awhile back that a new Halloween movie would be happening, we now know who is involved in the project and it’s some exciting news!
A little over an hour ago, the one and only John Carpenter announced on his facebook page:
“So you say you want a Revolution?
You want to shake things up and bring back Halloween and make it rock again?
Well, so do I.
So here’s the announcement you’ve all been waiting for:
David Gordon Green and Danny McBride are joining the project to complete the creative team. David and Danny will write the script together and David will direct. I will continue in my executive producer role to consult and offer my advice and feedback as needed.
David and Danny both came to my office recently with Jason Blum and shared their vision for the new movie and…WOW. They get it. I think you’re gonna dig it. They blew me away.
I might even do the music. Maybe. It could be kind of cool.
And you’ll get to see it in theaters on October 19th, 2018.”
John Carpenter will be executively producing the new Halloween movie. Beyond writing, David Gordon Green will also be directing. He is known for his work in Joe and The Pineapple Express. Danny McBride is known more for his comedic roles such as in Your Highness, The Pineapple Express, and This is the End, although more but recently he has explored new things including the highly anticipated film, Alien: Covenant. They are both excited to go beyond their comfort zones and work on something far more gritty and dark.
This is so exciting! We love both of these dudes and the idea of them putting their own twist on the Halloween franchise is exciting. This may be exactly what is needed to bring back life to the legendary Michael Myers – a fresh take on the silent killer. What do you all think about these guys being added to the project? Let us know!
