With reality shows like 90 Day Fiance exploiting the rather selfish reasons for the reasons behind intercontinental long distance relationships/marriages, the idea behind the old fashioned term “mail order bride” is one many Americans consider to be used by only the most desperate, lonely people. But now filmmaker Michael S. Ojeda (Avenged 2013) has a brand new film coming out called The Russian Bride, and the motive behind this soon to be husband may not be an innocuous as just wanting some sweet young army candy at his next family reunion. PopHorror has the trailer for this mother/daughter survival thriller.
A Russian woman travels to America with her daughter to marry a reclusive billionaire, who turns out to be a psycho who sends their lives spiraling into a living hell.
Starring The Dentist’s (1996) Corbin Bernsen, Oksana Orlan and 11-year-old supermodel Kristina Pimenova, Women Daily Magazine’s Most Beautiful Girl in the World, The Russian Bride was filmed at an English Tudor estate in the Midwest and is starting to make the rounds to festivals and sales agents.
Jeff Miller (Clowntown 2016) produced the film with two time Emmy winner Philip Day (Alaska: The Last Frontier TV series), Kimberley T. Zulkowski, Stephen Gregory Curtis, and Oksana Orlan. Executive Producers are Gregory O’Gallagher, Guido Den Broeder, Henry Penzi, Glikeriya Pimenova, and Edward Sorkine. Co-Producers are Jason Gurvitz and Chris Nicoletti. Associate Producers are Kristy
Ojeda and Allison Geddie.
“Michael is a talented director, and The Russian Bride is a shocking and action packed follow-up to Avenged. Genre fans will not be disappointed,” says Miller, adding that the film will have the feel of The Shining.
