Netflix Movie Review: ‘Vampires vs. The Bronx’ (2020)

I’m always down for a good vampire film and was super stoked to check out Netflix’s new horror comedy, Vampires vs. The Bronx.

Vampires vs. The Bronx

This film was directed by Oz Rodriguez as well as co-written by himself and Blaise Hemingway. It has a great cast starring Jaden Michael, Gerald W. Jones III, Gregory Diaz IV, Sarah Gadon, Cliff “Method Man” Smith, Shea Whigham, Coco Jones, Joel “The Kid Mero” Martinez, Chris Redd, Vladimir Caamaño, Jeremie Harris, Adam David Thompson, Judy Marte, Richard Bekins, and Jaden Michael. It was produced by Lorne Michaels and Erin David.

As if the Bronx didn’t already have it rough enough with all the drug dealing thugs, let’s brings vampires into the mix! I thought this was a great, unique story that brought groups of people together for one cause: saving the Bronx. It reminded me of a new age version of Monster Squad and is perfect for the whole family.

All of the performances are fantastic, but I think Jaden Michael stood out above the rest. His character is driven, courageous, and willing to do anything for the ones he loves and the place he calls home.

The vampires remind me of a mix between the ones from Twilight and The Lost Boys, but don’t worry… no one sparkled (haha). I love their transition and overall style.
